Well, sort of. Now you can achieve the look of wood like never before directly on a durable surface like aluminum using a process called sublimation powder coating. Developed in Europe in 1993 by a company named Decoral, a technology was developed to decorate metal surfaces which is based on the chemical-physical process know as sublimation. Aluminum sheets, profiles or 3D objects are powder coated and then decorated using a heat-transfer film printed with special inks. This way you get decorative finishes that reproduce natural materials like Wood Grain, Marble, Cor-Ten Weathering Steel and literally whatever image on the aluminum support. Alumalign only finishes its metal products using Decoral Architectural Aluminum Certified Applicators
